The matching yellow lampshade is made of offlined cardboard. Due to its low production cost, depression glass was a common choice for home decor in the late 1920s and 1930s. It was often very cheap and, sometimes, given away for free. Depression glass was manufactured for several decades until production ceased in the mid-20th century. Items made of depression glass are popular amongst collectors today for their various hues and patterns and their significance in American history.

Typically available in multiple colors, stereoscopic viewers were made primarily of Bakelite, an early plastic. The viewer has an aesthetic of Art Deco, a decorative style that became popular in the mid-1910s and took various incarnations through the late-1930s. Users advanced 35mm filmstrips through the viewer to operate the Tru-Vue using a built-in lever, and each frame appears in three dimensions when held up to a light source. This example, produced in the late 1930s, offers a photographic tour of Boulder Dam shortly after its construction.

The book includes a brief synopsis of the company town's operations and living conditions for dam workers under Six Companies, Inc. In addition, recipes from the Green Hut Cafe allowed tourists to take home a piece of Boulder City's Historic District with them. First established in 1932, the Grace Community Church housed the Ladies' Aid Society, which several women in the town joined while their husbands went to work. The church continues to serve as a pillar of Boulder City’s community today.
