Title
Plumb Bob
Description
A plumb bob, or "plummet," is an engineering tool made of a weight suspended from a piece of string used as a vertical reference. This particular instrument belonged to Harry C. Hall, who worked as an inspector at the dam site. The brass weight is attached to a plastic red and white-checkered cord holder. The plumb bob is the precursor to the spirit level, and such instruments are dated as far back as ancient Egypt.
