Description

Put together by the Ladies' Aid Society of Grace Community Church in Boulder City in 1933, The Boulder Dam Souvenir and Cook Book offers a glimpse into women's lives and communal service during the construction of the Hoover Dam. The book includes a brief synopsis of the company town's operations and living conditions for dam workers under Six Companies, Inc. In addition, recipes from the Green Hut Cafe allowed tourists to take home a piece of Boulder City's Historic District with them. First established in 1932, the Grace Community Church housed the Ladies' Aid Society, which several women in the town joined while their husbands went to work. The church continues to serve as a pillar of Boulder City’s community today.
