Title
Springfield Crayons
Description
The "Springfield Solid" box of crayons manufactured by the Milton Bradley company in the early 1900s was one of the earliest sets of crayons ever made. The box exterior features a sliding lid decorated with a formal border and the Milton Bradley symbol. Inscribed on the back is "Billy Breck, Jr.," presumably the name of the original owner of this set. The Springfield solid crayons initially came in eight colors: green, red, orange, yellow, blue, purple, brown, and black. As with this set, crayons were often broken and replaced as needed with repeated use.
